I thought the obvious which was to just sell it and get an awd to build but to be honest, I have way to many good memories and have never wanted to get rid of this car. I mean damn, this was the car I got I slammed girls in after the bell rang in high school.
The second thing I thought was why not convert it to an awd which would be nice and everything but for the extra stuff you have to do for that why not just be different and just do a rwd conversion the right way. Just seeing the motors turned with huge turbos on them makes me wanna trade my wife for the swap. Not kidding (5'5, 125 lbs., nice c cup, no ass, a lot of baggage and no sence of humor) let me know if interested lol.
But back to reality. For me personally I've been dead set on this conversion and am ready to begin taking it on. I have experience with dsms and automobiles so the basics I can cover. I have A decent sized heated garage and mainly every tool I could fit in my tool box. What's left out of that is the ability to do hacking, cutting, and welding. It's not that I can't try it but is just rather allow someone who's been doing it for while do it for me. The total I have to invest as of right now while writing this is my Vegas money which is exactly 7,142 dollars. I will be recieving pay over the course of my unemployment and do have another job but this is what I get to start with.
(I apologize for this huge post but I feel the more information you know the better and easier it may be to help me out)
The plan for me is to use the 4g63 and mate it to the r154. Im set on keeping it stick. I would like to keep it on the street so tubbing out the car isn't really want I'm trying to do either. What I'm kinda going for is an as close to stock looking talon that has balls and that if the time came could take it sliding on the weekends.
SO FINALLY, this is what I kinda need from you guys. (i know its a lot but these are the reasons these forums exist right?)
-motormounts- I know some companies offer them for dsms but for a 2g Dsm? How about the trans mount? I guess that's a custom piece. Power steering, and steering in general. I do turn left and right you know.
-rear- now I do understand that the car will have to be to tunneled for the trans and driveshaft. I will be deleting the spare tire compartment all together as well so what are some rear options that could be used for this application? Remember my budget and the fact I don't live at a machine shop. After determining the rear and suspension my mind will be a little more at ease. The swap itself is where most of questions are asked. Can it be done without having to build a new car in general? Why haven't more people done this? Has anyone provided documentation on this being done that's reliable? I do plan on doing a complete parts list, and price sheet as well as pictures of anything and everything that way I can give back to you what information th could provide to me. Nothing will be left out and will be posted after the build. I know theirs a lot of time ahead of me until this is done but I appreciate any input given by you guys. From reading previous posts their are quite of handful of you out there with some serious knowledge so share it with me. I appreciate everything.[/u]
