T 5 narrow block bellhousing adapter

I removed the lower skirt because of something Matt Arudda said, ' why not leave the skirt out ?'

I left the chevy bolt pattern in because I like multi purpose stuff

I welded the trans plate on and will start the sides next

Are the T-5's the same as the World class ones?

I pulled an older T5 from my Hornet a couple weeks ago.
I wonder if it would work?

Djchunter bumped me about it, it looks pretty good, 3 shift positions, all sorts of input shafts, gears for under $2000. brand new, with a smaller body then the T 56 , looks awful good
I am working on the T 5 now and I better put the bolt pattern in with the T 5 bellhousing

they are about the same size as a t5 in a fox body and if i recall they will bolt up to the early 4spd bell housings that came in mustangs. they are a great tranny. ones been in my buddys mustang for 13 years (blower car) and its still perfect. you can pick one up used for between 500-1000

I changed the T 5 back to accept the TKO option and molded it, I am finishing out detail and hope to have a casting done this week

Will this bell housing work on a Nissan T5 out of an 85 300zx? As far as I have read, it is the same T5 as used in Camaro / Mustang, with a different Input shaft, so I would assume so with the right flywheel / clutch cmbo, but just wanted to check and see. I've had this Nissan T5 taking up space in my garage since I had my Z 5 years ago, figured I might be able to put it to use in the quest.

yeah. its the same but for all the work its cheaper just to get the Ford trans with the right input shaft

I know it sounds dumb but slower is better, when I had this first casting done I commited to shaping it in all aluminum so as I sand it out , it takes its shape slower and less mistakes are made, It gives me more control over the shape

I went out and bought a TKO to test its fit and I was surprised to find the throw out bearing collar was much thicker then the T 5 standard trans, so more room was required for the collar to clear the pivot area's for the clutch fork, I knew I would have to add length in the overall housing but I dind expect this much, I will be adjusting this back towards the trans and lower the back half to where I want it

any adjustments to the outer shape of the housing is being done in aluminum as well, plastic is ok but when I let the patterns set for a while, they always shrink and need to be re adjusted, so these patterns are perminent

this will fit either the T 5 or the TKO but the center of the housing is different between the 2, the T 5 has a larger center hole then the TKO si it must be cut for the trans you have, OR the throw out bearing collar can be changed ( they cost about $45.00)

this is real good work that you do, reading your note about the diameter being different on the 2 trannys, it came to my mind a scatershield i had for a chevy and it also came with the bolt pattern for a ford toploader, they included a steel ring to make up the space as the front bearing cover where different sizes.

it will be custom cut to the trans that it is ordered for, the upper bolt holes are too close to build a generic bolt pattern, so I will build the center at a smaller diameter and cut it to desired size

the guy who is modding the T5 for TKO has done alot of modding mainly to give newer mopars a better 5 spd tranny. but the trans can be used on chevy & ford also. the durability of the TKO over the factory T5 is greatly improved. world class transmisions dont hold a candle to the TKO.

Bill, everytime I see you post you have made a great deal of progress! I wish I could do the same! LOL! I hope everything is going well for you, too. Please put me on the list as I have a couple T-5's lying around.

I can tell others that the TKO will take you much further than the WC T-5. Also, if your customers are trying to source a T-5, tell them to buy one a WC from behind a 5.0. The pilot is larger than the 4 cyl. one and the gearing will be much better for our engines than that of the T-5 from a 4 cyl. car.

this is a finished T5 bellhousing, its the first one

It all fits out very nice, I should mock up the engine assembly to find shifter location but I need to finish the work for Dave ( screaming eagle) first

I need to get ahold of Dan at compitition clutch and find the right bearings this week

I must say, I have been pushed before , but nothing prepared me for the rush people got into for this housing, I have people on the phone twice a day for this thing and I am bone tired of it

How is this adaptor going to affect the position of the motor? Should it be mounted as per normal or would it be better to mount the engine 2" forward?
