87 Starquest w 4g6* swap

Post by ShKcapt_Shadow »

I have been looking for weeks on what i need to do this swap.

I have gathered i need one of the following:

A wide block 4g63/4

An extra Drill hole in the bellhousing

---

Problem lies in the fact that We cant seem to locate a wide block seller. And i heard that there are people who make custom bellhousings for the narrow block 4g63. but we cant seem to find this either.

I dont mind going with a 4g64. I was going to put in stronger internals for turboing it anyways.

But if anyone has any current sites or... anything that sells wideblocks or bellhousings, would be appreciated.

Tranny wise, is it easier to just swap the tanny for one that'll fit narrow blocks? if so which trannys bolt right up to the Starquests? or require little modifications

Ha ha. I will say in his defense that DJs swap info is getting harder to find on this site, and few have done Conquest swaps lately. They all seem to be trucks and other cars with discussion of intake issues. Some things are getting hard to find.

ShKcapt, everything you need to know is somewhere on this site, keep looking. Also check the engine swapper section on starquestclub.com

Few to none stay with the D50 narrow block transmission once they do it. That should be a clue to go with one of Bill Hinchers adapters. Figure out what transmissions are available in your area for what you think is reasonable and go from there.

Best buy with the widest available support and parts availability = narrow 4g63+adapter+w series transmission.
