cast top mount manifold

Post by ixnay »

hey bill!

are you going to be making a cast top mount manifold with a T3 flange anytime soon?

i remember reading ages ago that this might of been on the cards?

there are so many designs and shapes guys want for so many idea's, I cant keep up with it all

to do it right , a good dyno with a lot of heat temp sensors would have to be used because of all the varibles

I used the dyno's back in the '60s on motorcylce header design and I was hugly impressed with how the heat leaves the cylinder, I mean, it was a matter of 300 degrees from where the cylinder exit was , to within 4 inches away from the head, you have to allow the exit header to be long enough to get the heat out of the cylinder so you dont burn exhaust valves, but you need enough heat the spin the turbo harder

having said all that, if you have a pattern you want built, I can get it done, its about $5000.00 for a proto type, then you have it casted for about $1500 and then each unit needs machined, but after you build the proto type then you can make as many as you want and try to get your investment back

i also dont know exactly how i want it - like the thing is people want this manifold to work in so many different cars also.

the only things i would really like out of the manifold is to keep stock heat sheilds on my starion and a T3 flange and a external wastegate.

i was looking around online last night and found pictures of the honda B16 turbo exhaust manifold and the flange looked very close to a 4g63 DOHC flange does anyone know if these are the same or close enough we could make a B16 top mount manifold work?

that would probably work wastegate design is a bit average might be a little tricky with clearance depending on location when mounted and hopefully the turbo has enough distance from the head, etc.

can someone buy one of these and cut the end tabs and rotate it so we can see how it would fit?
