Better yet, I have a customers harness on my bedroom floor right now. I wired it up for an SAFC, but the DSM link stuff is just as easy.. I left the option for him.. basically you preserve the OBDI plug. I'll get some photos tonight and some pins of what I'm talking about.
Can you verify what the pin out is on the DSMlink side of the OBD plug? How many wires does it have? Data Xfer, Ground, CEL?.. Self Diagnosis? Tach?

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

this is only a plan right now. ive never even seen dsmlink let alone own it. i was thinking someone savvy would have all the diagrams and would know this. i have eric plebani as an option to do this for me but im trying to do as much of this on my own as possible.

I'm looking at this page: <a href='http://www.dsmlink.com/1G%20DSMLink%20C ... lation.pdf' target='_blank'>http://www.dsmlink.com/1G%20DSMLink%20C ... ion.pdf</a>
looks like it only had 3 wires plus a power wire in it. There are only a few wires that could be used by the DSMlink so it would be rather easy to figure out which is which.
DSMlink looks to be falling into another trend I dont like so much... providing support only to current owners. Autronic is the same way. Its totally against my philosophy. Looks like if you want more detailed answers to techincal questions, you have to buy one first.

agreed. but for what im doing its optimal. ill gladly share whatever info i can gleen from it after i buy it. i only know eric plebani from phone calls. i was referred to him by a guy named bruce kwartler who owns buschurs first rwd talon. if i can take advantage of a great resource like that i will. he's a nice guy who really knows his shit about these cars. i know alot mechanically about dsms but electrical work has never been a forte' of mine. building my colt from the ground up has been alot harder than i thought it would be but a great learning experience.
