4g63 rwd kit car

Post by lusiphur134 »

whats up guys. i've posted a couple things here asking for help with my project so i figure i'd post some pics.
its a Locost - lotus 7 based car. the name low-cost is a play on lotus and the fact that most of the guys doing this aim for cheap homemade style in like the original hotrods of our grandfathers.
the frame can be bought or most, like myself, build their own. the common donor car in this country is a miata or old toyota 4age. i wanted something that was actually fast and i had a totaled talon sitting in my driveway sooo..

as far as i know mine is the only 4g63 front engine based locost in the works so i'm kind of delving into unknown territory but lucky for me i've gotten a lot of info from you guys here from all the 4g rwd swaps that have been in traditional cars by the people here. this is the mian build log but i figure i;d post some info here occasionally

i'm not real far along. started in dec but budget problems have slowed me down but back moving along for now. i have the frame done and the motor and wiring and extras stripped out of talon so now to start putting together.

i'll post some pics here and any comment questions or advice is very welcome. if anyone gets the urge to build their own i'll help steer you in the right direction as much as possible.

oh, i should update this. thanks forthe support

no major news on the build. i got my work hours cut so the budget went a little dry for a few months but back on track now.

the main chassis is finished. the rear subframe/axleattachments orhalf way through. decided on using a MK3 supra subframe and parts for rear. it will hold the power i'll make for sure and has LSD and rear gear ratio options. i recieved the bellhousing from Bill Hichner(excellent job bill) but havent gotten the motor mounts to chassis put together yet so no pics on motor in frame or any such yet.

i'll have to remember to update this more often.
