SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
SO MY 80 D50 WILL BE IN NEED OF A RADIATOR SHORTLY... HAD A PIN HOLE SO I PULLED IT OUT AND TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE GUY FIXED IT . 2 DAYS LATER I HAVE ANOTHER ...THE RAD IS ROTTEN..BUT IT'S HOLDING UP FOR NOW.. SO I'VE BEEN THINKING OF BUYING A ALUMINUM RADIATOR LIKE THIS AFCO 80107N SINCE I'M GOING TO SWAP IN A 4G THIS SPRING . BUT I WAS WONDERING IF A STOCK REPLACEMENT 2.6 RADIATOR WOULD DO THE JOB? I'VE SEEN IT BOTH WAYS AROUND THE FORUM ...
Ok...take this for what it is, but Modified Mag did some dyno pulls and contacted individual companies for info on radiators a few months back. Although the dual pass radiator is great for track days, thats what its best at...the track. The single pass is best for daily driving as it allows all the water inside to contact fresh air, not just the front (at a stand still of course). Also, there was a negligible difference at highway speeds and partial runs. Where the dual pass won out was on track days (not drag racing, but auto x, drift, etc) where the motor was running under load for a good amount of time. So it really depends on what you want done. Fit a new max radiator, get a radiator from an eclipse and fit it in, fit a honda radiator in (aluminum single pass IIRC), or get the aluminum. The argument goes both sides because the radiator does too. Hopefully some of the info helps you determine what is best for your setup...not whats best;)
i have this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Aluminum ... ccessories radiator in my quest, well i bought from a different seller but i believe its the exact same one. only needs brackets and a slim fan. its the perfect size
