There are alot of really good options out there, but it depends on what you want. To start, is it an eprom or non eprom ECU? If its non eprom, you can either swap over to one that is, get a stand alone, or run an SAFC II, NEO, or some other similar piggy back. If its an eprom or you get an eprom (best route IMO besides full stand alone) you have plenty of options. The least expensive would be to check out dsmchips.com (keydiver chips). Jeff over there does really good work and once you have your eprom ECU socketed, you just swap over and voila...instant tune, but no ability to alter the map by yourself. The 2nd option is to take advantage of DSMLink or Jackal. I personally am not a fan of link for reasons that I wont really go into here other than its 3x as much as Jackal is to get going, and will continue to be over priced. Jackal is a speed density based, FREE software. The only expense would be a Moates ostrich emulator, a map sensor and an IAT sensor. Wire them in and BAM, free FULL tuning. Check out DS-Map.net. They now have cars going 10's I think running a good ammt. of horsepower, and is still pretty cheap compared to other options. It basically has almost everything a full stand alone would have at a fraction of the cost. Hope some of this helps!

LOL...no problem. broken down in simpler terms:
1. Piggy back as in an SAFC or greddy emanage.
2. DSM Link or Jackal (Again, I recommend Jackal over ALL other options for cost and what it can do)
3. Full Standalone.

Jackal runs off the factory EPROM and socketed ECU and only costs around 200 to 250 to get it going depending on the deals you come across. Best of luck!

If you have an eprom ECU, it contains a small eprom chip inside. That chip can be removed, but only by desoldering it from the board. If you want to use different chips, and have the ability to swap from a stock chip to a custom tune, and then swap to anotehr custom tune...OR, if you want to use an ostrich for tuning for your setup, and then swap to a chip when you sell the car, just socket it. It makes it a ton easier if the chip/ostich ever goes bad.

The socket is soldered onto the board, and simply allows the ostrich/chip to be pressed in and popped out with ease. 3 mins of work (as long as you have easy access to your ECU) and you can swap out chips/tunes whatnot. Hope this helps!

I know I'm late, but look up vfaq.com. Tons of info on it, and its where I found my part numbers before. Sorry for the delay! They also have pics incase the ECU is accessable.
