Help with motor mounts (to block)

Post by jezz_s13 »

Hi,

I'm using an Evo 4G for my swap and have just received my motor mount brackets ( 2 x MD041030).
One of these is fine for one side of the block, but the other side needs a plate making and then the mount welding to it.

Is this just an issue with the Evo block or is usual to have to do this, or is there a OE bracket that will pick up on these 3 holes?
Making a plate isn't an issue, but if there's a genuine part available then I may as well use that.

Has anyone got any pictures of their block and mounts they could post?

Good side... Mount lines up nicely with the 2 holes in the block.

Bad side... There are 3 holes none of which line up, in the second picture I'm holding the mount roughly where it would need to go in order to be in line with the other side.

Cheers,
Jezz.

That is an issue with the evo and 2g blocks. The 6 bolt blocks have the mounting bosses on both sides.

Ah right ok, cool. :)
Thanks for the reply.

Do the 2g guys normally just do as I've suggested? Make a plate to mount to the 3 holes and weld/bolt the bracket to that?

In a way it might be an advantage to make a plate anyway as I can use it to move the mount to where I need it to line up with the S13's cross member.

just a thought, i wonder if a mid 90's 4 cyl mitsu truck would have the motor mount that you need? anyone know if that would work?
