4G63 into KE70 corolla-what do I need?

hey guys, I need to know what wiring and bits I need to get from a wrecked 89 galant (thats what the motor came from).

My plan is to make it as easy as I can, I would like to use the 4G63's dash, key&barrel, fuse box, relays etc to run the motor, and leave all the lights etc on the corolla's loom and just connect the them together at the key barrel.

this way I will have two complete wiring looms in the car, connected to the one key. Is this possible? what do I need from the donor car?

once it is all up and running I will strip out the excess plugs and wires that are not needed from both looms and tidy it all up.

this is a permanent track car so legalities are not a problem, I just want it to run and be easy!

start reading the "swap electrical" section- that will get you started. then start trolling this forum. might want to swing over to hotrodcoffeeshop.com as well. actually, i think Jeremy from there is going to offer a wiring harness service for RWD 4G63's.

thanks mate ill have a look through that hotrod website today sometime.

ive been through the swap electrical section and most of the swap mechanical and i can't find any info that really answers my question.

are there any other good DSM site's that may be helpful? being in australia its hard to find anything like this on the net. short of typing "project zero g" i cant even get google to turn up this site!

thanks to bills post i was able to figure mine out and i am really horrible when it comes to electrical, so if i was able to figure it out, then you should defenitley figure it out

thanks mate, I've already found that thread its a great help so far. will be a bit different, as aussie cars are right-hand drive but im sure I can figure that out.

can anyone tell me if I need the fusebox from the donor car? It will probably be clearer once I start pulling the donor apart but I like to know exactly what I'm getting myself into first.

does that engine loom that Bill removes plug into the guage cluster/instrument panel from the donor car or will I need another part to connect to that?

no you do not need a fusebox from the donor car, if you check the wires behind the ignition tumbler, you should be able to see which one has constant power at all times, which one has power on the ignition position and then ofcourse the wire that will trigger the starter on the start position.
get a test light and find out what does what and i can help you figure out that small section of the wiring. shoot me a pm
