awd vs fwd flywheel

Post by S0LJAH »

are the awd and fwd 4g63 6 bolt flywheels the same?

as im sure alot of you know we need a fwd for bills w5x adapter, but if the 4wd ones are the same then i can get a nice aftermarket lightweight billet jobby

as im aware both run the same clutch setup??

so?dimensions anyone?what are the differences

do they both look the same with the raised blocks on the edges?

they are not the same, i believe the AWD one is slightly smaller and the starter wont engage it.

both flywheels will work ull just have to get the right starter motor to match which ever you choose AWD or FWD!

the AWD flywheel is 10mm smaller in diameter as the FWD flywheel
the FWD flywheel measures 280mm diameter and the AWD measures 270mm diameter

the starter had to be mounted 5mm closer to the flywheel in the bellhousings to make them work

there is absolutely NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO physical difference in the clutch between the FWd and the AWD but they are listed different so i think the spring pressure must be different

all the option clutchs are billed as AWD but they will fit the FWD flywheel

cheers bill

so bill with your w5x series adapter
do we have to use the fwd flywheel and starter or can you use the awd flywheel if you also use the awd starter?

cheers

I build the bellhousing after it is ordered and place the starter where the customer wants it
the bellhousings can be built either for the AWD or the FWD
