Hi guys been a while since ive posted anything but have a quick question on my throttle body, I am currently plumbing up all the water lines and noticed there are two steel line coming from the evo 3 throttle body which I am guessing are water lines? what are they and where do they go? Can I have them obsolite? Any help would be great thanks.

No, they are not heated to prevent ice. They have the coolant lines ran to them for the fiav(Fast Idles Air Valve). You can block this off with a fiav block-off plate, or you can remove the complete fiav/isc block from the bottom of the throttle body.boise-nic wrote:yeah go ahead and block them off. The throttle bodies are heated to prevent ice formation when its really cold. It would have to be really reall cold for that though.
Ok thanks so if i were to just not run coolant through the lines would it really matter what would the consiquences be?89coltgt wrote:No, they are not heated to prevent ice. Oh my bad I forgot about the FIAV. When your car is cold there is a thermostatic switch that opens the throttle a bit and allows the engine to idle faster. as it gets warmer, the switch starts to retracts until its fully closed and you get a warm 'slow' idle'. I don't have mine anymore and it starts and stays running just fine. It just doesn't increase the rpm of a cold idle. If its really cold or your running e85, you might have to crack the throttle open a bit for a minute or two but I've never had any issues.
