lsd for MM
went to a pick and pull and got 4.62 lsd out of a montero came out of an 87 it bolted right into my 92 2wd. i've checked other yard and years more have lsd's than not easy way to look for one is open the driver door and check the jamb there will be a bright orange stick says "WARNING vehicle equipped with limited slip diff" just make sure when you swap it to add the lsd additive to your gear oil. cruzing on the hwy with the 4.62's and my 205/55/16 tach is at 3k. also picked up the rest of the little pig tales i needed for my na dohc head swap scored an 91 E-prom 2.0 ecu too.

The way to do that is swap the Montero LSD into the open rear with the ratio you want. That way you do not have to full with the pinion height.Gentleman Rogue wrote: I almost wonder if you could take the 3.55's from the trucks rear and swap them into the Montero rear...
Measure the backlash and take some pictures of the gear pattern. Remove the ring gear from the open diff and install on the lsd. Reinstall in the rear the ring gear came out of. Reset the backlash to what it was before you took it apart and the patterned should come back to what it looked like before you took it apart. The Bering preload is the tricky part, always make your last move a tightening move.
If you want 3.90 or 4.22 find a rear with that ratio and swap the lsd into it.
A lot of good info here.
