It gets welded in the center collar, John wanted his own drive shaft shop toweld it in place
It allows for the use of the 1350 U-joint when you use a GM auto trans

oldcolt is right, I wanted to be able to run the mitsu rear without the tiny yokes and universals. Yes, this is going on a d50/mightymax.
