NA DOHC 4g63 swap onto 4g64 mighty max questions

Post by mellow65 »

So I have been doing a lot of reading about swapping turboed 4g63s into everything but i had some questions about doing a NA 4g63 head onto a 4g64 block.

OK so from what I read it works just fine.

So I'm assuming the NA swap is similar to the turbo swap, well with out the turbo any ways. where the whole harness needs to be swapped over.

But like the turbo swap does the firewall need to be massaged or the motor moved forward?

What would be the better years to snag harness and heads from?

Then if you are using all of the 4g63 head and intake parts I'm figuring you need to make the fwd intake into a rwd intake.

Then what can you do for exhaust headers?

any more info would be great if i'm missing something.

thanks

Yes I believe the firewall needs to either be cut out or the motor moved forward. You will still have the thermostat interference issue regardless if it is turbo or NA. 90's are a strange breed. The engine and ECU's are diffrerent than the 91-94 cars. I think the 2g head can fit with some mods but I'd stay with the 91-94 cars.

I'm not certain about the exhaust but I'd think a muffler shop could fab you something up pretty easy.

Just out of curiosity, why not try a turbo 4g if you are going to the trouble? They are quite addicting :)

i have been thinking turbo once i have learned what it's going to take to do the NA.

but finding turbo cars to part out around here are a little hard to come by.
