hey,
just wondering what clutch/pressure plate people have used with there W58 gearbox's
do you use a mitsubishi pressure plate and a toyota clutch?
or
do you use a toyota pressure plate and clutch? (will the pressure plate bolt to the mitsubishi flywheel?)

you only need what comes with the W 55 trans, clutch fork, pivot ball and throw out bearing collar

this is Toyota's OEM number for the throw out bearing, from the dealer, it can be cross refferenced by any local parts store to buy and aftermarket parts

this also is Toyota's OEM number, for the disc, from the dealer, it can be cross refferenced by any local parts store to buy and aftermarket parts

then you need to open up the center of the flywheel to 30mm, i will be glad to do this for anyone who buys my bellhousing

this is a used disc i had from a toyota truck, it measures just under 9 inches

then you use a stock pressure plate from Mitsubishi to finish out the clutch parts,
batdude8 , is the MAN, PM him and he will be glad to help you with the right combination of disc and pressure plate

no, i did not place the pilot bearing in the flywheel, its placed in the crankshaft , the larger hole allowed the input shaft of the w 55 to pass through the center of the flywheelixnay wrote:thanks so much bill
so we drill out the flywheel to take the supra spiggot bearing?
im in australia so thats why i did not buy one of your bellhousings and just get everything off you to get the job done.

Excuse my ignorance but I am slightly confused about the pilot bearing. The flywheel needs to be machined out to 30mm but this is strictly a clearance issue, the flywheel does not accept the pilot bearing right?
My 6 bolt FWD Fidanza arrived and I took it down to the machine shop to have the center hole bored to 30mm but the machinist would not do the work. He wanted both the bearing and the flywheel before he would machine it believing that the bearing was to be pressed into the flywheel. I couldn't convince him otherwise and he started to make me doubt what I was telling him lol!. Maybe he was right and I was wrong. Could of saved me a ruined flywheel.
Maybe if someone has a picture of the crank + flywheel + bearing, that might convince him.

its a mute point, the outer diameter of the pilot bearing is also 30mm, take the bearing down and let them fit it >;) then just set the bearing in the crankshaft with the spacer that came with the kit
yes, the opening in the flywheel allows the input shaft to pass through freely and the pilot bearing does fit in the crankshaft
