I have a drag project underway. http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199627
I want to convert my 95 FWD eclipse to RWD but there is something I'm not sure about. I want to use Bill's Auto Fab's tranny adapter plate to stuff a GM a/t in there but the front subframe is definitely in the way. I can cut it and weld square tubing in to make room but the rack and pinion is inside the subframe. Thats definitely a problem. I figured someone had already done this swap. So what was done or could be done to remedy this?
Thanks in advance.

I dont want it to be strictly for drag, I wanted to put in a 6l90 6 speed a/t for some autocross capability but powerglides are stupid cheap so it looks like its going to be a drag strip queen. I'm still going to focused on making it handle as well as possible. Dont really like manuals, 900 dollar clutches lasting 10k pisses me off.

not to be negative but I think your opening up a big can of worms. Give yourself realistic expectations of what type of use the car will see then start designing the car around that. Someone on here swapped Nissan 240 front suspension in a chassis cant remeber what. I'm not sure how it worked out maybe thats an option. Either way good luck it should be fun either way.
