7 bolt clutch questions

Post by kurb_appeal »

I have the 2.4 7bolt wideblock and flywheel from a 95 mighty max. Which clutch and starter do I use. Can I use my starion pieces. I do have the clutch from the pu but I know it wont hold up. Any ideas or a link that I may have missed. I havent got to pull my engine yet for size comparison but will soon. Just trying to figure this out now so I know what to expect.

ya but can i use a starion clutch. I already know an eclipse clutch is too small. I have one of those available. I can get a decent deal on a clutch if so. I havent even looked for a clutch for the max yet.

If the flywheel ring gear on the truck is the same as the starion, you may be able to use a fwd turbo 7 bolt dsm flywheel along with the dsm clutch you can get a good deal on.

Ok I will check soon. I am going to fight about 2 feet of snow an take the car to the new shop today after I go pick up my rims. I am going to start tearing the engine and harness out of it. I can then match up and let others know.

I think the dsm setup will be too small as the exedy clutch that was in the car is adready to small for the max flywheel. It shouldnt matter if the clutch is for a 6 or 7 bolt they should bolt up the same if i remember right.

BTW I did some checking last night and I was able to find a centerforce clutch kit that is for the 95 mighty max flywheel that I have. I may end up getting that since I know it will be right. It is only $405....lol

Yeah, the low production volume stuff is always expensive to make up for R&D time. My RX-7 clutch kit was $275 for the xtreme + unsprung 6-puck off eBay.
