is my waterpump junk?

Post by Gentleman Rogue »

so i was pressing the 4G63 pulley flange onto my MM waterpump, and had the back of the shaft supported- or so i thought...

i didnt realize the shaft wasnt one whole piece, and managed to press the front bearing in a bit and bind up the bearings. it spun, but very hard. from here, i used a punch from the back side and managed to drive the shaft back out. it seems to spin freely now, and i dont see any binding or any interference now. but now im worried i might have damaged the bearings in the process. i would hate to get the whole thing together and have the thing blow up and leak the first time i start it.

a new pump is only around $25, but would take a few days to get here. i wouldnt mind spending the money, but still dont want to if i dont have to.

so what do you think? is the brand new waterpump junk?

The $25 savings is not worth it, just buy a new pump and make sure the shaft is supported.
