In terms of Shifter location, how much further back does the Star quest tail housing put the shifter when attached to a D50 trans?

Thats it?!
I need 10 inches! yikes. Any ideas? I am thinking of an extended shifter, but it would be awkward to say the least.

Modify a stock tail housing. I could do this for you once we get a house and I can use my miller tig welder.
Fwiw, the difference is ~3" between the d50 and starion tail housing.
