CAS/firewall interference?

Post by Gentleman Rogue »

so its a bit late in my game to ask this, but i just realized tonight i have never got a straight answer; so here goes:

im putting a 4G63 into my '88 Ram 50. the thermostat housing is relocated to the front of the engine, but i realize the CAS will be very close to the firewall. can anyone tell me if i will have to beat/cut the firewall to clear it with the engine bolted in the stock location?

It will fit. However the 91 and up cas connector will come in contact with the heater core pipe. if you get one from a 90 it has a pig tail harness on the bottom. firewall clearance on my truck (green top cas) was about quarter inch with the motor in the stock location.

kick ass! finally something GOOD about getting parts from a '90 instead of a '91-'94!

just so you guys know, i put the engine in my truck, and the CAS hits the firewall and the engine still needs to come back at least 1/4".

so basically, you have to beat the firewall in a little bit no matter what. just depends on how far you want to hammer it in, hahaha
