Thanks guys. The truck has been at this stage for about a year now. There are some things that I will do differently on the next mighty max swap coming up. I will have to get more pics of that build. This truck will be recieving a th350 trans and stall converter when Bill's adapters are finished, the other truck will also be getting a gm auto trans as well.

The auto will be very consistant and durable. Yes, the truck will be used to go fast and a straight line.

Would you mind sharing more info on your swap???

I'd like to know if you kept the power steering (I saw the pump in a few of your pics)? What size exhaust tubing you went with?? Which turbo are you using? Did you move the alternator???

I swapped over to manual steering, went with a 3" exhaust and it currently has a chinabay 16g turbo on it, I will be going with a holset in the future as the chinese 16g is a pos.

John, what ratio are the man steering boxes?
Don't know if you have been keeping up with the other threads but the power ones are a variable type. I was all excited when It turned 3 turns lock to lock, but then read that they can be up to a 21:1 while running.
Maybe if pitman arms can be swapped around to help.

I'd love to get Bill's auto adapter and drop in that 200r4 in my 88max.

Oldcolt75, if you can ever drive a setup auto car, it's a blast. You get to keep both hands on the wheel and just MASH the gas whenever you like and it just goes like stink..
But like I said, SET UP RIGHT.. if the TV cable isn't right its' a pain and the trans won't last long.
Otherwise you can adjust the shiftpoints to YOUR application and have it downshift right when it comes into its powerband.

Looks good John! I just scored a dash clock and a cluster/tach today..
Let me ask ya something.. I still have that colt engine/harness and thought of putting it in the max with your narrow trans or one of Bill's setups.
You think that I"d be going backward because of the small size (1600)
I wonder how much fuel mileage difference there would be..?

Email me some pics of the trans if ya don't mind.

I'm fixin to do a swap in my '80 Arrow soon. Want to get the engine pulled from the Laser so I can sell it by tax time. I, however, will be using the stock 4-speed manual. I don't think I'll move engine forward either. I'll have a little more room since mine is non-turbo. Good luck and keep posting pics.

The back of the nt engine is the same as the turbo engine as far as clearance back there goes.

The thermostat housing and intake get in the way of the firewall is what I'm told unless you modify the intake and housing or move the engine forward.
