You can buy new components to run the EVO turbos like the exhaust housing and center sections. It's not really cheaper that way, but second hand units should go pretty cheap.
I'm still not clear on the twin scroll setup, but the inlet from the exhaust manifold is split and the EVO 8 wastegate has 2 ports. EVO 9 went back to 1 port and is considered an upgrade. The bolt pattern for the EVO exhaust manifold is the same as the DSM stuff and the turbo would face the right direction for RWD applications on a DSM motor. If you can find the parts cheap enough or wanted a custom setup without custom parts, then this seems like a good option.

No it will not work on traditional style housings, but if you combine the EVO manifold with the EVO turbo (w/ exhaust housing) then you won't have to rotate the turbo 180 for RWD applications. And as seen on various sites, you can buy just the exhaust housing if you already bought the center section.
