Now-I assume the 5 speeds I find in the (G54b and 4g64) cars are WIDE block, correct? What are their differences from the Narrow block D50 (I assume G63b, and 4g63). I am finding many more G54B and4g64 RWD 5 speeds than 2.0's....
And lastly, is there any good evidence that the G63B will take a 4G DOHC head/timing set up?

You are correct about the 2.0 and 2.6 transmissions JP. As long as the g63b has a t-belt, the dohc head swap would be the same as the 4g64/g4cs, other than the t-belt. I have no idea of the blocks that had a timing chain are any different, but I would suspect they are since the chain sits in an oil bath.

Coltboostin, NO the trans are NOT internally the same.. I just got a 88 ram50 factory manual (same as the mighty Max) and they specifically show that the internals are slightly different. But the gear ratios are the same.
I was looking because I still have a quest trans tail end and know that some of the truck guys swap them out for thier turbo engine swap that they move the engine up about 3" which puts the shifter very close to stock shifter location.
And didn't want a "oh crap" after taking both trans apart
If you want, I can scan/mail the pics to ya.. Shoot me a PM with your email.
