4G63 Trans Set up
Moderators: DJpowerHaus, mattmartindrift
Hello, I am new to the board and I currently own, what is to my knowlege, the only 4G63 Powered 1981 Dodge Challenger (plymouth sapporo) I built it about a year ago and have had a blast with it ever since. It has a Forced Performance Green turbo, Buschur racing Turbo 350 set up, and a ford 8.8 rear. The original owner (in stock form 2.6 carb) drove it to a 22.11 @ 61MPH!!! I have since run 11.78 @ 121 at the DSM shootout last year. I am selling my orig 5 speed 4G63 set up. It includes : 1 5spd trans modified by Eric Plebani (one of the first to ever do this swap) that will bolt directly a 4G63 Block. 1 6 bolt flywheel, and 1 ACT clutch. I will also throw in a reversed stock intake manifold with a non-turbo throttle body. If anyone is interested please email me @ watarush27@hotmail.com Thanks

I already have one of those EP built trannys (88 Starion guts/89 MM bell housing). I have a couple of questions for you.
What kid of clutch is it using (mechanical or hydralic)?
What FW/clutch combination?
Lastly, how much do you want for everything?
Thanks,

I would like $700 for everything, Clutch is and ACT 6 puk that I had to special order from them, it has a standard conquest center section with an eclipse outer section, unsprung with a Cable clutch mechanism that came stock in my Challenger. It can be used with the hydraulic clutch in a Conquest also. The flywheel was also custom made but a local shop for me. I had to drill an extra hole it though for the dowell pin in a 6 Bolt 4G63. All the parts have less than 500 miles on them.

Sounds like alot of trouble for the flywheel/clutch. I just used the FWD flywheel with the center hole bored out for the bearing. Could have been aftermarket too.
The clutch was just a matter of calling SBC and asking for a clutch I can use with a FWD flywheel and a starion spline.
I must say that $700 is a deal if this transmission is as strong as it seems.... but I dont know.. it can only be as strong as a later StarQuest tranny and they're not too strong either. Anybody planning to do the swap should know.. I've gone through 2 transmissions already and nearly $1000 in parts.. not including my time swapping them.. and downtime.
I sure wish someone could figure out exactly what is required to do the gut swap. Alot of people on here would eat that up.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
