1g vr4 with evo3 ecu help!!!!

Post by jaggie »

Guys, my project 1G VR4 narrow block, bill's bell +w58 tanny.
The problem...recieved an ecu that could not plug in (same three connectors),however made different fro the 1G harness.
I was told it was an evo 3 ecu...
Can this work wth jack changes /wiring splicing???

EVO 1-3 and the VR4 should be the same as far as I know. There could be some changes if the VR4 is a 1990 model or earlier. Check with the guys at ECMTuning.com (DSMLink). They should be able to give you some helpful info about your ECU. You can also look at your wiring harness and see if it matches the pinouts at VFAQ.com. Do you have any pictures of the ECU? Inside and out will be helpful. Is it an EPROM unit? Make sure you have all this info ready when others ask to get the most out of the advice they give.

The Evo 1-3 is equivalent to a 2G ECU, Engine. A VR4 is equivalent to a 1G ECU, Engine.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

My bad. I thought all EVO 1-3 motors were 6-bolt non OBD and then switched to 7-bolt OBD II with the EVO 4.
