Was reading on the DSM forums that it's been proven to work now. i haven't seen any posts about this on here so i thought i'd share.
im finally starting my 4g63 build and already ordered a boomslang harness and evo ecu and i'll be documenting the wiring/installation as i go.
Discuss.
EVO VIII Ecu has been prove to work in a 2g DSM!

cost wise it's less expensive, evo ecu's are literally going for 100 bucks if you look around (i just bought my 2nd one yesterday for that price) a tactrix cable for flashing is around 60-75 and the sofware is FREE.
not to mention the ecuflash is a lot more capable and offers more control than DSM link. (knock logging alone is worth it)
Eprom ~200, DSMlink ~500
it hasn't been tried on a 1g yet but there seems to be indication that it will work.

I'll do some searching too, but it's my understanding that the EVO ECU has the same plug-ins as the 2G harness. If you don't have an EPROM 2G ECU, this is a great option. I'm not sure if there are any other differences, but I've heard of guys running this as well. Got any links to make the searches faster?

my concern right now is what needs to be done if you're running a 95 dsm head with the CAS on the cam gear? if anybody has any ideas please share.

one more thing to add: you can actually use a 3g eclipse ecu as well as the plugs are the same...you just need to flash it with an evo ROM so it can handle over 100% load.

To be honest, this is great news. I've been an EPROM whore since I heard about all the developments they were making with it, but with the EVO's ECU and how easy it is to reflash them, as well as how much safer it is than, say, an SAFC like we've been doing for the last some odd years, I can't wait for them to figure out how to make it perform with the 1G.
As far as DSMLink vs Tactrix-compatible logging...I'd prefer the latter instead of the former. I've had the fun of dealing with both, and I'll take the free stuff over DSMLink any day of the week. Better logging capabilities, free, etc.
