These D50 transmissions suck balls. This is the "decent" one I put in after the $25 one bit it. It was feeling great and smooth coming down the highway. Nice cold dry night pulling to 18psi or redline or 110mph, whichever came first. I knew something was up! I go to pull into work and 2nd gear is like dead. Sounds like running a motor at 3000rpm full boost with no rod bearings. All the other gears are just noisy. Shifts great though.

I'll have about $650 into the damn transmissions for this car after the new one, not inluding the time that it took to swap the setup twice.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

I know the 4G63T is the cheaper route in the beginning. Are you thinking wideblock now? The only narrowblock RWD manual transmission that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Canadian Hyundai Stellar.

We've looked into all those options.

Can't wait to get this 2.4 wideblock built!

And.. That's awesome about the 3SGTE... if I only knew that a few years ago :-D. Spend an extra $1000 or soemthing.. but a clip, sell the 1G motor, starion parts.. .might have been a good deal.

I have read that the 3SGTE thing is false.
