The problem with machining down the flywheel is that it would throw the geometry of the clutch fork off, as well as cause the starter to jam. :?

Its going in an FC RX-7. :D

That seems like it would be more difficult than just swapping input shafts. The engine I'm planning on swapping in (VW VR6 12V) has a 10 bolt flywheel that is hub centric, and 1 bolt is slightly offset to locate the fly correctly. I'm also having trouble finding a machine shop willing to work with ...

I need some help. I'm trying to mate an engine up to the turbo Mazda RX-7 tranny, but because of the bellhousing, the input shaft splines barely engage with the clutch disk.
