I have heard of the power limitation (well, actually it should be torque, not powermainstream wrote:88-89 Starion trans will hold about 3-400hp depending on driving style. If you beat on it, it's not going to last, same goes with any trans really. The only downfall with the starion trans is that the input bearing does not like high rpms. The G54B had a redline of 6500 and the engine really ran out of breath at about 52-5500 so they rarely see redline. The starion trans would make an excellent trans for a daily driven 300hp-ish mid-weight car.

). But the RPM thing is new to me. Have people actually been seeing problem with those trannies at higher RPMs? And what are those "high RPMs"? 8000? 9000? Lastly, was that with or without the pilot bearing installed in the flywheel?
