1986 Corolla GT-S Hatch 4G63 Swap

Just wanted to share updates on my recent project, it is a 1986 Corolla GT-S Hatch that now has a 4g63 and a W58 soon maybe even a ford 8.8 inch rear. So far it was not bad about 5 to 7 days well after work hour days and its pretty much adjusted close to its final position. Not bad considering how far it went for that short amount of time, now the only other part that needs to be outsourced will be the driveshaft. Anyone care to share some ideas ?
the link to some of the build pics are here.

Good work so far. Just an FYI. I took similar pictures of my car thinking it would be done soon... I finished it 2 years later. I hope it all goes together smoothly.

well lets not jinx me here

actually i have sota kinda and maybe a deadline, GRM 2008 so far ive spent 470 dollars on the car, trans, bellhousing, harness and ecm and other various stuff. I dont think i could count the electricity in it then i would be really in the hole. and im expecting to drive it by january2008, at least thats my plan. i think i have more work in getting rid of stuff than working on the car. And this job thing is in the way of my car working schedule, but without the job ill have no toys food and toilet paper

so last night i stayed up till 3 am with my buddy and we just either had too much to drink, made a mess of the harness, but one things for sure It looked like we did a lot because now the car is covered in wires.
This afternoon got around to cutting the manifold AND!!!!!!!!! now it uses 2g parts too.Ill post the picture up tommorow after the turkeys get slaughtered. Anyway no workie on the car im relaxing this long weekend, Happy dead turkey day to everyone.

don't trip, I got mine done in 5 months, it's all in how much time you put in and how bad you want it done.

well i got about 22 hrs in the project, got plenty done and i know more is coming ahead. Now the tracks closed for the season and thanksgivings done i could be able to chip away at it a little bit after work. thanks for the heads up
this is what i did on thanksgiving because i had to much food and i needed a sit down project

cheapness spawns creativity thats why i used a 2g inlet elbow rather than buy a flange

and it should clear some things on the way to the intercooler.

Thanks Mr Bill I will let you know what parts i would need made or thought of, right now chipping away at this thing one corner of the motor at a time. The manifold fits and decided to flop the alternator on the other side, proceeded with the water pump coolant pipe made that work after welding reality sets in.......... my buddy asks me so where is the oil filter going to go ?..... DOH! so since he pointed that out the least he could do is cut the pipe to length for the reweld

all in all im still mentally stuck but this is how far ive got with about 25 hrs so far in the build

so i guess if i never slept and worked on the car for a whole day this is what i would have got done... MAYBE...

And the question of the day well 2 questions of the day. #1 Does anyone have plans infos and or drawings for an alternator relocation bracket? and # 2 ill post up in the electrical section about the alternator relay.

if im spending 125 bucks im spending it on my TSi, right now with everything including the car sawzall blades motor, trans, bellhousing, harness , vehicle,ECU, metal stock and various trip to home depot and lowe's i have tallied up $ 522, not trying to be cheap but the goal for this car is minimal investment(GRM $2008 challenge) maximum headahe and lots of fun and learning along the way.But thanks for the link, now i just have to find an excuse to get one of those and put it in my talon
My TSi:)

Nice 1g. What holset are you running, and how do you like it?

Well the GRM thing is still up , i kinda took a hit on time maybe patience either way after christmas was my deadline i gave myself plenty of time 5 whole weeks

looks like i should have stopped the what if and maybe scenario and got the driveshaft done along with other stuff, sooooooooo with that being said i just dropped off the driveshaft today (thanks to your reply btw, it reminded me i had a car to finish) flywheel resurfaced. Right nows runny total with abraisive chop saw blades metal Driveshaft and resurfacing im still under $1k damn close though but let see if i meet my original delivery date of january next year.
And for the dude that inquired about the Holset its just a plain old 40 barely tuned on pump gas( BP93 ) had to lower the boost to 27.5 PSI and no traction in 39 degree weather 2 weeks ago it ran 11.778 @ 123.06 MPH and a 60 ft time thats so horrible i could have went to sleep, woke up and started the car all by the time the car made it the 1st 60 ft

and whoever thought AWD car sticks, had a slight miscalculation

Oh, well i kinda snipped that off the VPC ,as you can see. It still has the resistor snap clip covers are still there. I shouldnt have a use for it if this car runs, then it could be yours

Ill keep you updated.

UPDATE:
So the more i get closer to getting done, the more motivation i have. The more motivation i have , the more money i loose( see example #1
http://rides.webshots.com/album/559892179DtftPu )So i had some time to gather the recipts from everything i bought for the car including the whole car itself and everything to get it to this point, i didnt know if i should drive the car, because its built that inexpensive. But the grand total from the misc stuff i might have overlooked like hoseclamps or sawzall/ bandsaw blades, argon gas and other misc stuff, the total is about $1403. 88. I splurged and bought me the cheapest can of paint, and learned how to polish a turd( can i say that in here ?)
Now its built, and still have a couple of days before GRM 2008 happens, its sad to say i couldn't make it due to a lack of manpower and equiptment to take the car down there. I guess i can add 1 more dollar to next years budget
