Found this while doing a search on some stuff for this 1990 Colt GT I'm picking up tomorrow. Looks pretty nice. Does it belong to anyone here?

First of all, why twin turbos? Which turbos is he using? And when it is actually finished, what rpm to they start building boost at??

It sure does.. and it'll look cool when he has massive engine failure due to improper oiling

interesting bov placement too aswell
i have always been led to believe the close to the throttlebody the better
no only is his as far away as possible but he is running a seperate one for each turbo?

Yeah, the engine tilt will probably be an issue. The twin BOV and placement sucks as well. I just thought it was kinda cool and thought I'd share. As soon as I get a few more parts, I'll have a 4G63T swapped Colt GT.

Anyone here from Colorado and have a 6-bolt FWD flywheel?

Hey guys- yeah thats my pile.
TO answer a few Q's-
The motor's lean is just how the bellhousing sets it. I had to fab an oil pan, and oil pickup, and oil filter housing-and in the 1000+ miles I have put on the car, I have had zero oiling issues.
The TT was just because really, I honestly did not expect it to work that well, but I get these turbos for 15% of what my GT42 non BB cost me, so it was worth a shot!
I see 20psi at 4800rpm, and 30+ at 5200rpm. This is a full 1k faster than the GT42 on my Colt came into boost, and is very responsive on the street.
To save time-I will copy and paste this from another forum-
Drove up in the rain-made it on the Dyno around 3am.
First pull, no changes-20psi (creep to 22 by redline) 450whp/400ft lbs. Full boost by 4.8k
http://www.doitbig.org/coltboostin/pics ... %20066.mpg (right click-save as please)
AFR's were a bit lean for me on pump gas 12.2-12.5, so I turned to fuel up. Made 468/413 next pull with 11.2-11.5 AFR's.
Go to 110 leaded "pump" gas, play with restrictors for a few pulls-get it to spike to 30ish psi, and hold just under 30ps to redline (only 7k, since my stock Hyundi head/cams own me)
564whp 490ft lbs trq. With nice and thick 11.0-11.2 AFR's. It was 4am, so we went to stake and shake. I dont see the need in trying to get the tune "perfect" with all the junkyard parts on the car.
Chart

*note-boost reference was taken pre-intercooler
Pics

With how responsive the system is, I would have to say the Twin turbo setup works, and I think I will be refining it over winter. Both turbo's still feel mint, and both compressors are 100% perfect, even with well over 1000miles of flogging with my "ghetto" ram air induction.
Cliff notes on set up
4G64 w junkyard Hyundai DOHC head
Stock Rusty Hyundai cams
JMF RWD intake/w Q45
Twin China 50 trims
Mild welded "BoBo" manifold
Single used Tial 38mm
Fidanza Flywheel
ACT 2600/6 puck clutch
JP Fab whatever is laying around intercooler plumbing
"look what I found" DSM 255lhp fuel pump
1600cc injectors
DSM Link
GM MAF-T
China intercooler
2.5x2 to 4inch exhaust (1/2 of which made from Cummins stock exhaust)
Jp Fab Alt relocation
"Peek-a-boo" Ram air induction
Junk ass Cobra wheels with BFG's
I will toss a good head on it over winter, with Cams I already have for the car. I do expect to make anywhere from 100-200more whp more, since I will rev it to 8k, and the power will climb all the way to that point. As long as ti does not run out of turbo, or the lack of good exhaust flow does not choke it up, it seems like it should beat the Colt's 708whp.
The kicker-you can duplicate this fro $4475. Although I did not spend that much, thanks to always scavenging for cheap used parts, and my Grandfathered sponsors JMF and DSmlink, if you have a harbor freight mig welded and a little bit of time, you could have quite the FUZION for less than 5k total investment.
Thanks to Jim at JMF

And Tom at DSMlink

For your amazing products!
More videos/timeslips/40 rolls to come.....

Bill Hincher wrote:there is no problem with the oiling, that engine came from the factory with that tilt, its set up axactly the way it should be
I'm gathering from his explanation that his engine is not sitting at the factory tilt.
I think it looks cool and I agree with mounting engines at factory tilt, but that looks to be ~3° too far, maybe more. Of course, it's not too far in his case because he's fabbed his own pickup.

The best way I can explain this is that I did not choose the tilt-the TRANNY choose the tilt. When you use the 2600 bell housing, and DO NOT change the trans mount orientation (I wanted to keep the shifter in the stock location) the motor sits at the angle you see int he pictures.
I have experienced no issues with this thus far.

Are you running a t-stat JP? I cannot tell in the last pic.
Posted: Fri Oct 05, 2007 1:53 pm
by coltboostin
No, just a restrictor ( a big washer) in the radiator hose just before the cap. It acts just like it has a T-stat in it, and wanted to overheat quickly while in boost without it. For those wondering, I grabbed that cap assemble for an 86 MR2

Did you split the exhaust, say 1&4 and 2&3 or just make a split manifold to feed both turbos with all 4 ports?
Looks VERY interesting? I seem to have missed this thread somehow.
I do have a couple of older Mitsu turbos HHMMmmmm?

Would anyone here be interested in purchasing this current turbo set up? I may be looking to go single.
The twins work well, but I dont think they will make 700whp for me, not unless I take them to 35+psi..and I dont like big boost.

First off let me say that your conversion is sick and has inspired me to do the same to my 90' Turbo II.
I was wondering what kind of car the 4G64 came from and what year it was. It seems from the writeups that only a select few vehicles like the Mighty Max pickup and Montero carry the wideblock motor that we need for the Rx-7 tranny to line up. I don't have to tell you how hard it is to find engines from these vehicles in the particular years specified. Also how did you mate the Rx-7 tranny to the 4G64? did you use the B2600 bellhousing as suggested in the Project Zero G tutorials?
Finally are the block and head from the same car or did you combine them from different ones?
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Well, yes, the block is a little tuff to locate, but any RWD 2.4 should be correct. And Yes, I am using the B2600 Bell Housing. BUT-there may be an alignment issue here. If you want more details, PM me. Actually, I think I will make a post about it.
As for the head, if you want to go DOHC, the head will be different than the block, because they did not make any RWD 2.4 DOHC motors. Just use one off any DSM, and you'll be good. Remember that you will need the special wiescos to make that work though

I'm no master welder, but the welds in this pic...
Also, don't you need an alternator to have a belt to work?
In any case, it's much farther along than mine.
Did you keep the balance shafts in?

Hey, it was an experiment to see if ti would work- no point spending money, and time making something pretty if I was not going to keep it! Last year on the twins it went 11.6@128 on low boost, and pump gas. It had a 70mm, and a 50 trim on it since. I have pulled the motor and trans in favor of a 6 speed for nest year, I need to get back over 200+mph.
