4g63t rwd 1981 ex lancer
Hey everyone. so i started this project roughly a year ago! i had bought this 1200cc ex lancer for 1500 hunderd $ and thrashed that round for awhile. then i got the chance to buy a 4g63t motor. i had no idea what was involved in the swap at all but my old man having bein a mechanic at mitsibishi motors for ten years plus i thought he would give me a hand.
So i have now got this 7bolt turbo motor lying round waiting for me to drop it in the lancer. so one night i decided to get started and riped out the previous motor and striped out every thing o thought i wouldnt be using. i then picked up a whole running sigma for 200$ and riped that to peices, keeping the g box and engine mounts and a few other things that would come in handy.
It was then time to do some work on the 4g63t. so i started striping all manifolds and that off it giving it a good clean as i was going.
I had my inlet manifold shut and rewelded to face what was now to be the front. the guy did an awesome job with it. ill have pics up when i fiqure out how to do it??
first other thing i did was drop the engine in and made sure it sat good with mounts and gearbox! and it was sweet as only having to make minor adjustments to an engine mount. as my engine has front cam and crank sensors i was stoked not to have to worry about cam sensor clearance issues! as time went on i realised this was gonna be a long swap so i got more and more unmotivated to do it.
a few months passed and i had barely touched it so recently i have been doing all i can to best my knowledge. i bought a nice brand new td06 turbo and got a mate to make a top mount manifold for it! looks sick as all bolted up now. I have since put some evo cams in and 600cc injectors and have some braided fuel line to go on and off fuel rail.
I bought a cheap evo flywheel and p plate and took these to a guy over the hill who makes custom clutches, so he has since made me a 225mm solid clutch with 2500 clamp which looks mint as. they put the 280mm ring gear on the fly wheel so it aligns perfectly with the starter motor!
The water side of things was the bit i really didnt no what was the best/easiest to do. so i ended up bringing a pipe straight out the back of the head around and under the inlet manifold, with a vr4 thermostat housing which dad mounted just between the TB and cam covers. so most of that will be hidden which is good as i want to keep the engine bay looking decent!
Now i thought it was time i did abit of work on the actuall car so it handles the motors power. i bought a shortened hilux LSD diff setup that i got my mate to mock up and fit into the back of my lancer! it has these nissan rear caliper brakes on it. so thats plenty strong and exactly what i wanted! was a perfect fit for some 17x7s on the back which i have bought and they look mint onit! so it was time for the front so i eventually tracked down some turbo starion struts which were in mint condition! i have since bought a coil over kit and they are currently bein striped and ready to be modified to take the new sleeves and springs! should make the lancer look mint as!
the only thing left to do now on the motor side of things was the turbo oil lines which should be done over the next week or two hopefully then i can drop it back in and start hooking up the fuel lines and start sorting the intercooler piping etc!
I am using an s14 brand mew 50mm alloy radiator which i started mounting in today should have the sitting in there good next day my old man wants to weld some brackets on!
Was browsing on trademe and thought id nuy a few things so i went and got a link computer simply cause i wanna get rid of the air flow meter!! turbo beanie(as turbo was rather close to brakes fluid) a nice brand new tial 38mm external and BOV from fast bits! Pics will be up as soon as i can ive got heaps..
Any help at all with wiring???? i havent the slightest clue at all! remembering the chasis had a carby motor!

For any one doing the ex lancer build i have just put starion power steering into my 81 lancer.
I had to use the starion tie rods and arms for it to work. also the drop arm off the starion is needed for the bigger splined steering box.
The steering colum was also to long as now the splines that connect to the colum are closer to the firewall so my mechanic has shortened part of the colum ( i dont think this is legal) but now im just in the process of hooking up the lines etc hoping any thing is an improvemnt on what i had
