Clean man...now off hand, did that come with the r154 trans? I think the celica supra had it...but I cant remember if the celica did. Either way, keep us posted!

Thanks...my Celica and the Supras 82-85 all had the W58. The R154 only came in the MKIII 86-92 Supra Turbos. I hope I made the right decision to use the R154. I have read that it is not as smooth shifting as the W58. We will see.
I will post up more pics very soon.

I remember reading the cast iron yota trans in the earlier rwd cars could handle the torque of V8's. Just don't know if the bolt pattern would be the same to use Bill's bellhousing. It's supposed to be the same as the W58 but can't say for sure.

Looks great though.

The car came with an aluminum case W58, but I will not be using that transmission. I have an R154 with bill's bellhousings.
The engine and trans will be going in this weekend. I will post updated pic soon after.

Call me weird, but I love the under hood light. So I used one out of a Supra.

Looks great so far! I like the lights also. I get them from older 240-280z's when I see them. It's just that the switch is plastic and sometimes breaks.

Looks awesome! What short shifter is that?

The shifter is an "S3" from celicasupra.com. It fits w58 and r154 transmissions.

Cool to see some of the details you've done. I like that you've kept the power steering. What is the neat little throttle cable thing you have there? Interesting stuff. Glad you go rid of the 510 so I don't have to compete with you. :D

I still have the 510. I got it back from the guy I sold it to. It will be put back together with a KA24E instead. But that is for a later date.
The throttle thing is the stock 22RE linkage. I used a few bits from other Toyotas to make it all work. With that setup, I can keep the cruise control. I will also be keeping the A/C. Atfer all it is a GTS...all the power options you know. 8)

I fired the car Sunday. No coolant, so it run for 10-15 seconds. I will try some water and maybe a heat and cool cycle. I want to be on the road this weekend. I will post a vid by this weekend. I'm just waiting for the rain to stop.

I only see one water pipe. What did you do with the other one?

EXCELLENT Jeff!
Wow, that looks super clean!

Kinda looks like it was made for that car.
There has been one sitting up the street from me at a truck stop. Must be a employee. (It's red though :( )

How's the drive ability of it so far?

Jeff, The water pipe is something I made. I used about 4-6" of the section that comes from the back of the water pump. I made it turn 90deg. You can see it in the pics. The black pipe behind the alternator.

Image
This is the only picture you can kind of see it. The rest of the hose is an exhaust pipe bent 90deg, with rubber ends.
Never mind the clutter. This was way early in the build. You get to see my nasty mess. Don't tell anyone!!!

Well, I've put about 35 miles or so on the car. The exhaust is quieter that I thought it would be. I like it that way. I had to make some clearance to stop rattles. But other than that it has been very uneventful. Lets hope it stays that way.
All I can say is its been a while that I've been in a turbo car. This thing is quick. I haven't really given it all the beans yet. I don't even have a boost gauge yet. It comes up on power real fast. I loved the power in my Eclipse. This is even better.
So now I need to get my boost and afr gauges mounted I have a 2 pod gauge mount from lotek to go in. I hope to have more pics up soon.
The R154 is not the soomthest shifting transmission I have ever shifted. Hopefully the shifter will loosen up a little.

Get used to the r154 they shift like a rusty John deer. I was told if you use redline mt90 it works better.
