so two modifications are needed to use the front coolant exit, one is to open the second rear coolant passage in the head and head gasket to reverse the flow using Burnelli's laws and push the coolant forward and the existing front coolant exits must be closed off, but not all the way, an opening should be left so no air locks can form in that area
hello! new here...
i understand the part where the front coolant passages need to be partially blocked...
on the rear side (original thermo housing location), just want to clarify if i still have to bore a 2nd coolant passage on the cylinder head?
or will opening up the other hole on the cylinder head gasket also open up the 2nd passage on the cylinder head?
yeah, you should open the second hole it the head at the old thermostate end, be carful to aviod the EGR port that is nearby but you want that second hole , it is to your advantage to accelerate the coolant from the back of the head towards the front, in order to do that you want two holes at the back of the head pushing the coolant forward by using burnelli's law. Restrict the two new holes (in what is now the rear of the engine) of the head gasket to roughly the same size the factory sized the front two holes in the original headgasket, that will accelerate the coolant at the point the coolant leaves the cylinder block and into the cylinder head and influence the movement of coolant from the back to the front
