Yeah the first thing I noticed when I fired it up was the sound of the compression from the tail pipe... It actually sounds tougher than before... Thanks for the tip, I'll apply the knowledge.
I plan on running turbo'd right off the bat, but I do seriously think I need to go get another head or have the intake valves in the #1 looked at cause I think one or both got hammered and bent

Yeah they worked great... fired right up first try, sounded good, warmed up completely, twice... made it about 2 blocks and seized.. not a biggie dropped the pan real quick loosened the connecting rod bolts and it spun free... then my parents drug me out to go Christmas shopping all day so I didn't get it put back together... on the good side tho it's no longer my "daily driver" My parents thought it appropriate to buy me a 1997 Nissan Extra Cab Pickup for Christmas... So I now have plenty of time to mess with it.

Now you can drop in a twin turbo'd ZX motor in that one.. hhee hee
Did you go from cast pistons to forged?
Didn't it overheat before it siezed?

No dude this was like the 3rd take lol... I had problems with piston rings in the stock block so i stripped it down and re ringed it, and broke 1 of the stock pistons with the help of the ring compressor, so I went and got some stock Galant pistons and rods from the junk yard and installed them with new bearings and rings and put it all back together, started right up, warmed up then I shut it down and went in for the night, the next morning i was gonna go get a coffee and figured i would drive it to go get one, it seized just around the corner from the house after mostly warming up, so i pushed it home dropped the pan, freed the crank up then ended up going shopping all day.
I just need to put the pan back on and see what happens this time. but to answer your questions I HAD billet pistons, not forged, and that was a different engine that is now blown, the "new" engine just has stock cast Galant pistons and rods. and 2 it never overheated and seized, it barely got warm but twice... i think you got me confused with someone else
And i was thinking something more like twin turbo small block v8, gm 6 speed transmission, 7 point roll cage and some 15" slicks... but all purely speculation

Read the info off the main site and you will see what you need, there are alot of options as far as converting to DOHC, budget and HP is usually the deciding factor. I would go for a 1g setup to start with, OEM harness and then add on mods slowly. The reason I would put a 1g head on it is because at a junkyard you pretty much trip over them because they are so common, also you can pick up a complete 1g DSM parts car for a decent price and there are always DSM parts on Craigslist, again though these are all things dependent on goals you want to achieve and your budget and ability to do your own work which is a major budget cut if you do it yourself. Mega Squirt is nice too but seems like alot of work for a car if you just want a street performer, if I was building a drag car then Mega Squirt would be one of the EMS I would be looking at doing, I however am going to use the OEM harness out of a 92 DSM and utilize DSMlink just for the ease of install and its a nice system, affordable too. I am not gonna use DSMlink right away, first I am just going to use the OEM equipment, once I get all my kinks worked out and engine broke in then I will be looking at upgrades for sure. Goodluck with your build, this site is a goldmine, take the time to read through as much as you can and before you know it you will have answers to all your questions, or at least most of them....
