stroker vs destroker

Post by skylinetwo40 »

I was wondering if anyone knows the pros/cons of each. Whats the base HP and Torque for each?

This info is already on the site: http://projectzerog.com/sirius_engines.shtml

Base horsepower and torque? Based on what? It all depends on how you do it. The stroker should have a lower peak power band and the destroker should have a higher one. That can change too, depending on how the engine is set up.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

The simplest answer would be that the stroker will have more torque and the destroked motor will rev higher. Again as DJ said, this all depends on how you set up the motor.

We run both a stroker and a non stroker in our RWD 4G63 race car. In all situations the stroker motor is faster, build one and join the converted! The small loss of top end RPM (we redline at 7,500 rpm for endurance rallies) is offset by the massive spread of midrange torque resulting in an even greater spread of power.

For rally the broad powerband is ideal. For those that drag race or have other goals, the destroked might work better. Overall, in a dialy driver or raod car, the stroker will win. I still want to see someone run a FWD 2.1L All-Motor 4G and show those dumb Honduh guys they aren't as cool as they think.
