I would say skip the whole 1.6L and just do a 2.0L if you can. Demensionlly they are almost the same size, and if you keep it naturally aspirated, you can use pretty much any Mitsu wiring harness from a similar year. (1.6/1.8/2.0/2.4L) Of course it would be best to just take the harness with the engine, but make sure it's a DOHC. Unless you're intent on trying to keep the vintage look for your car, you will miss out on a lot of power by going back to the carb engine. If you like the look of the cargs, why not make your own independent throttle body setup. It will look vintage, run great and will make quite a bit of power on these motors. I would guess you could get 200hp easily from a 2.0L without touching more than cams and an ECU tune.

As far as your flywheel choices, take whatever you get with the transmission. It will likely be a FWD size flywheel. It just needs to fit the starter location on the transmission bellhousing.

On a brighter note, the car looks great for its age. What other plans do you have besides the motor work?
