can anyone id my motor

Post by ardyrr »

Can some one please help me identify my motor? i just bought a 4g63 DOHC but hot sure what it is out of ,it has a red rocker and the valves have T6 on them and engine no is 4G63 LL7983 the pistons look like low comp types with 4 grooves so the valves won't hit,i pulled the sump of it has oil squirter's and the main caps are joined to each other,it has 6 bolts on flywheel and the pistons are marked 63dt,thanks in advance

i,m going to fit it into my 79 scorpion so if anyone has done this before some advice would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a Japanese Galant VR4 engine. Does the oil filter housing have the provisions for an external air cooled oil cooler?

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

If it wasn't for colts there would be no DSM s.

My chilton manual (sucks) says that L is for 1990. If it has oil squirters, it is deffinately a turbo block. The main caps will be joined on 1/2 and 3/4 for all 4G motors I believe. Keep checking and ready the posts on this forum. We can learn alot from each other.

Usually (if its a JDM vr4 motor it has the cyclone dual runner intake) But it als has the red valve cover. Sometimes you will get lucky and get a 16g and 550 injectors too.

The VR4 always has Mitsubishi on the valve cover not matter what. If you get a 16g on you motor, it's likely an EVO 3, but those are usually taken by the importer for their own gain, not usually for sale to the public.
