Bill's Bellhousings with AWD parts?

Post by jeffball610 »

Bill is building bellhousings for us and made his design on a FWD flywheel. I have an AWD flywheel and starter. Where am I going to run into issues? I know the FWD flywheel is slightly larger in the ring gears. Do the FWD and AWD use different starters, or is the difference in the bellhousing area? In other words, if I had an AWD starter, would it work on a FWD car? I know the clutches are the same. But where is the issue going to be?

Just got word from a good DSM tranny guy. The FWD bellhousing is larger, thus I would need the FWD flywheel. The starter is the same though, so that's easy. I have a perfectly resurfaced AWD flywheel I'm sure someone local will swap me. So, I'm covered there too. Or I can get one at the bone yard for $10 and have it resurfaced. Can't wait for Bill to get those things done.
