4g63 into conquest with stock dsm ecu/harness?

Post by Corey »

Is this possible? Can i just use a 1g dsm ecu and engine harness? What all would need done to make this work?

thanks!

I'll get this one.

Before you choose the forums, on the main page there is a wealth of info regarding this swap. From coolant options, to tranny choices, to wiring info specifically detailing a starquest.

Post linked so I don't come off too douchy

Alright thanks!

Few more quick questions...

Under the B38 section, what is the plug in picture number 2 there? pic 1 is b38 right?

Secondly, this tells me how to use a 1g harness, not ecu?

or is the ecu just as easy as plugging it in?

duh brain fart.

The engine harness plugs right into the ecu. So 1g ecu plugs directly into the 1g harness. Then then 1g harness connects to the chassis harness at B38, which is what you need to mod to get it to work with the starion, right?

sorry guys, be patient with me!

and wheres the pinout for b38?

Are the two pictures under the "B38 - The Starion Half of Wiring" Section for the 1g harness or for the starion b38 plug, or both? If both, the information directly below that is four which one? and which one is which? Sorry, this is just a bit of a jumble to me. Trying to take in alot at once.

Just to let you know, if you haven't realized it yet, the number of people who have actually done the full DSM/Starion wire swap are very few. Perhaps three that I can think of, and it's been a while since they've done it.

Someone bumped the wiring diagrams, probably for you. You can't get in a hurry on this forum, people take years to get stuff built, and forget things they did in the process. Good luck.

Well, hopefully ill be number 4.

I think ive got things figured out, so hopefully ill be able to start a project thread shortly, and be added to the short list of 4g63 stock ecu people.

I can build you a harness if you'd like. It would be universal to fit any car and you just run a couple of power wires and a couple of ignition sources.

for now im going to try and just use a stock 1g harness, and remove all the unnecessary bits from it, and mod plug b38, and hope that works. If it does not, ill get ahold of ya:

I did it on my first swap and I did a few harnesses for other people since then. Its not too hard to figure out if you have wiring diagrams for each harness. Label all plugs and strip the looming off the harness. Trace everything out on both harnesses and label the wires. Strip out everything you dont need. Before you know it you'll have a few connectors on the DSM harness that map to the B38 plug on the starion. After that you just need to splice on the Starion connector from the Starion engine harness.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
