Hi i'm new here, and I was reading and there is very good information on your site I was looking around for a while to find.
See i've got an 1993 FD rx-7. I blew the transmission back in november, and did not have anytime as of yet to fix it. I have a track day in a week, and it seems I cannot find any serious sellers, they all offer me big sums of money for their not so much garanteed transmissions.
So i've got a T2 transmission (Earlier model) and i've read that the gear ratio and exactly the same except a little difference on the overdrive but who cares.
I was thinking of swaping my FD bellhousing, fork & bearing out. And I have to swap out the tail shaft as it is supposevely different. I know the casing is different and the position of the shifter is a little off as well, but I was wondering how complicated it it to just swap the 2?
Guess people say to change the tailshaft because there's not the same amount of splines on the shaft from one model to the other.
Just wondering how a Average level mecanic, thats done everything to his car to bring it up to 400rwhp so far, would do with that job.
Thanks
How complicated is it ? (tranny swap)
