What about those who have done turbo starion swaps into the truck, I haven't heard much about bearing problems with their swaps. Is it because the rev limit is lower, or simply because the AWD trans is somehow different?

Comparatively speaking the KM-145 is a weak transmission, weaker than ...

yes, the 2.4 will bolt to your KM145/KM148 tranny. You should want to know that those of us who have done the starion swap in our SWB Monteros/Raiders have been having problems with the input shaft bearing in the manual (KM145) transmissions. If you are planning on going turbo it would be best to ...

Coil negative, like everyone pointed out, I -think- its a blue/white wire. It is not part of the starion engine harness, it will still be in the car by the old coil location even if you've removed the engine harness.

Good thread.

I was thinking about doing this in a small truck I just bought. Aside from being new to diesels, I wanted to know if the bellhousing was the same as the 2.6 liter 4 cyl Montero motor.

And.. another question. Is the turbo version the same bell pattern as the non turbo. The turbo ...

I'm ahead of myself in planning the drivetrain upgrade, so don't expect anything too soon. I've heard that you can pick up a JDM 4D56T for as little as $550 state-side if you're patient.

Oh hell. I -really- didn't need to know that. Who is your source if you don't mind my asking?

you ...

I've wanted to do a 4D55/56 swap for a good long while, but sourcing an engine has kept it from happening. They are wideblocks and share the same transmission and engine mount patterns as the 4G54. I don't believe there is much to wire up aside from the starter, alternator and glow plug thingy. Fuel ...

By restricting flow to/through the head to use a front exit, wouldn't that create hot spots in the block or are the passages not restricted enough to make it an issue?

The Delica Exceed and Super Exceed vans were equipped with either the 4D55 or 4D56 turbo diesels and a 2.8l turbo diesel that I don't know the designation of.
