Evo Inlet manifolds (JDM)

Evo 1-3: inlet manifolds are basically the same as the US g2 manifolds.

Evo 4-5: port sizes are the same as the g2, however the throttle body is facing the other way to the g2 and g1. These manifolds had no egr port at all. Weight wise they are significantly lighter and ...

I really wish people would state which EVOs they are asking about either EVO 1 to 3, EVO 4 to 9 or EVO 10 as the answers can be very different.

Assumptions can be the mother of all stuff-ups and there is almost nothing worse than getting or giving incorrect info.

K-MAC make a camber/caster kits for GA, GB, GC and GD Galant as well as some early Lancers. Have a look at http://www.k-mac.com.au/ To find the useful info hit the new products link followed by mitsubishi link.

To see the effect on camber if you bolt a starion strut into a GA, GB, GC or any of the early Galant have a look at this GTO which had starion struts installed.

Not a good look!

The big problem with the Starion struts into a GA, GB or GC colt is that the king pin angle is different due to different lower arm lengths. This means that you will end up positive camber. The ball joint taper is the same, but you must use the colt ball joint so it fits in the colts lower arm.

The main issue is the steering box and linkages just like you have with the astron motor. I will use custom 4-2-1 headers similar to the ones currently in my GTO. I hadn't even thought to use the factory cast manifold as a long term solution.

It's for a non-turbo setup in a colt GTO. This setup is only an interim step to quad throttle bodies.

Yes matt this is what I planned to do to your car :) .

Someone could always perform an experiment with 4 thermocouples bonded between the exhaust valves and pump hot water through the block and head and measure the temperature response with time. If the temperature profiles are different then you restrict the flow between the head and block at the front ...

Hi Dan,

I'm thinking of putting a N/A motor into a 75 colt GTO. Specs are a little fluid at the moment. Initially I am/was thinking of a pretty standard 4g63 bottom end, but with AMG spec pistons and using the standard 4g63 head etc with the AMG computer that I have. The other option I am ...

Hi Dan,

The engine is a non-turbo 4g61 with a bore size of approximately 82.3mm or 3.24". I'm not sure what year the engine is however :( . I see you asked the guy selling the head on trademe, get him to measure the bore size of the combustion chamber and the inlet port width.

I'm on the lookout ...

On a second look the only difference in the combustion chamber is the bore size. Chamber depth is the same between heads as is the distance between the quench areas. There is more shrouding of the inlet valves in the 4g61 than the 4g63.

Hi Dan,

I'm also in NZ. I pulled the head off a 4g61 last week. The port inlet port size is 50mm by 31.5mm with a corner fillet radius of around 14mm. The roof chamber size of the 4g61 is definitely smaller than the 4g63 head as well, however, the valves are the same between the two heads. There is ...

On the chain drive 4g63 is the bore spacing standard for a 4g63 or is it the same as 4g54? If it is the same as the 4g54 then te engine is an early 4g52. I have one of these in my Colt GTO. The dizzy is driven off the crank and it has no balance shafts. This engine was also fitted in some forklifts ...
