I'm trying to work out a group purchase for 2.0L Starion oil filter housings. These sit the oil filter like the pickup trucks off to the side, rather than towards the back of the engine.
PLUS, they have the provisions for an external oil cooler like the GVR4 and 1990 Eclipse.
Best of both worlds, only we didn't get them here. Currently talking to an Aussie who might be able to get us 3 or 4.
If anybody wants anything from Oz, speak up and we'll try to include it to save some $$ on shipping. |

I would be down for one, are these new Mike and do you have a rough price estimate?
Were these available in Japan? If so, I may be able to locate more of them, I have a guy who can get oem stuff from Japan as long as I have a part#. |

I can't find the part number at all! Anybody have a way to find out for me?
No price yet, still waiting on that. |

I assume these are for 6-bolts since the Starion was discontinued before the 6-bolt was. I don't have a need for one, but thought I would try to get some more clarity on the subject. Also, can't you just look up the engine parts on the 2.0L Starion in the CAPS system to get a part#? Thought I'd throw that out there too. |

My version of CAPS doesn't go back far enough to cover any Starions. Yes it would be a 6 bolt.
I got a PM saying he wanted $30 each for them. That sounds damn low. I'll see what I can line up from there.
Also he said he has some RHD hand brake levers if anybody needs some. |

At that price, I'd be in for two of them Mike. Are these new or used parts? US caps does not have foriegn part#s in the program. I may be able to get some #s from a guy on gvr4.org. |

They'd be used, but since they're coming to me first, I'll be sure to clean them up in the parts washer so you can barely tell. |

Hell, for $30 I'd take one just in case. At some point I'll be running another RWD 4G63 and 6-bolts are so easy to get a hold of. I'm sure they'll be more than $30 after shipping though (AUS to US is not cheap). Once you get them in (you better take these) let us know how much you want for them. They'll sell in no time. |

I've got a big pile of parts coming from your same supplier. I don't mind having him toss it in the same box as my stuff to save some on shipping.

Kane... Sounds good to me. Tell me when they get in.
89coltgt...I think A184 are for later flatties. Thanks for the part number: MD089252. Can you help me to get a copy of that version of caps that your friend has? I could REALLY use it.
Looks like the one highlighted here is different from the one above it:
http://www.galantvr4.org/img.php?id=79966 . What's the part number for that one? |

Huh, I don't know which one he has the part# listed for, if it is the one highlighted, it looks to be the housing w/o provisions for the oil cooler. I will get in touch with him to verify as it looks like the one above it is what we are looking for. |

Both of the housings in the diagram share the same part#. It looks like these are still available from mitsu in Japan but I am waiting on a price.
I am in the process of finding out where to get this caps version for you Mike, I am pretty sure I know of a link, I need to find it. |

I got the USA version and one of the Euro versions to work. Pulled a different part number for the A183 Starion 2.0L oil filter housing: MD041094 . Not sure what that means. This was for the assembly. The PNC code is the same though: 04102A |

DJ, so the rearward pointing ones are bad due to the crossmember swaps?
I mean, the filter gets in the way on the engine swaps that are being performed?
If these don't work out, What about the simple 'oil filter relocators" that you can get from Jegs or JC whittney?
Then you could mount it anyplace?
Just a thought. Errol |

This is finally moving forward. The quote from Australia is $150 + $65.80 for 3. That works out to be around $75 each to get to me. I've got one called for for Craig's car. The other 2 are up for sale. Who wants them?
$75 + shipping |

The box arrived from Australia today. Thanks Redzone! I'll get some photos of the 2.0L Starion oil filter housings soon enough. We'll fit one to Craig's car later this winter with some fly ass braided lines and oil cooler.
I'm still contemplating me keeping one, so for now, only one is for sale. First one to PM me a zipcode for a shipping quote AND pays gets it. I'll send my paypal address with the shipping quote.
$75 each + Shipping. These are priced $3 above what I paid to get them which might cover paypal fees. I'm just happy to get some of these things in the US finally.
I'd like to see someone try to use these on a StarQuest using stock lines. That would be sweet if they worked with the stock oil cooler lines on a swapped StarQuest. Also we need to make sure they don't interfere with any part of a DOHC 4G6x in a Starquest, clear sway bar, etc. |

fwiw, my local mitsu dealer told me that caps never included starions, and all the cars back in those days were done with books. They then proceeded to pull out a large stack of books, call upon an extremely old man who pulled out a magnifying glass, told me the part number of the part I was looking for, flipped to an exact page, then read the same part number he had already told me from the book and said, "yep, still got it" and walked away. It was straigh out of some buddist retreat where they tell you the meaning of life as if its nothing and walk away.
but Im sure someones got the pictures/#'s somewhere on some computer... |

Finally some activity! Yes, I still have these, just not here with me now. They are 2 hours north at my Parents. I'll probably be able to get them before the end of the month to ship out. |

They are used. Not sure what all the holes are, but I'm sure you could trace them out and figure that out.

I got your message and will gather up what ones I have left next time I'm at the shop. How does $80 sound? Inflation! |
