Are there any newer wide block 2.4’s or are most of them narrow?

I believe the most recent wideblock 4G6x that came on a US vehicle is the 4G64 that came on the 97-99 Montero Sport. It only came on the base model and is pretty rare though.

Forsure, is probably be better of getting a narrow pattern transmission to open up my options. I guess now my question is what is the most recent narrow block 4G6X?

Narrow block transmission options are more plentiful now than when this site was started so the need for a wideblock is less preferred now. Get a Billhousing from Bill Hincher and a narrow block and you'll be fine.

One difference between the montero sport 2.4 block and the mighty max/van 2.4 block is that it has the later evo deck pattern instead of the early deck pattern which opens up options for evo style heads.

Is Bill still around and taking orders for those things? I ask because I'm pretty much giving up on my B2600 bellhoused TII transmission I've had for like 3 centuries. Wideblocks are hard to find and it occurred to me that when it pops, there won't be any replacements.

Well you're right about that. Times have changed.

Bill is available through facebook as well as his site: https://www.billsautofab.com/
